I was just wondering if virtual money will ever have a large impact in the real world. I know some can be converted into real money but you need lots of it. Is there ever going to be say a virtual market that has a good weight in the real world. I love that you can convert millions in virtual money into real but will that conversion every reflect real life money. I just dont think millions of fake dollars is worth say 1 buck.

The valuation of virtual currency is fairly arbitrary. for example virtual goods that cost 1 xbucks on one site might cost 1000000000 ybucks on another. Because of the way that virtual currencies are fragmented. Right now nearly all virtual currencies are tied to real ones so they don't really lose value relative to their real currency.

That being said you can usually buy virtual currency with real dollars, but going the other way is a little harder.
